Spear fishing again today:

I saw, in this order, a barracuda, a turtle, a nurse shark, and a stingray. I didn’t particularly like any of them. They all seemed mean... except maybe the turtle. But that turtle was fast; we had all we could do to keep up. I had to hydrodraft off the rescue swimmer I was fishing with. And I just made up the word, ‘hydrodraft.’

Is this the guy who would not go swimming in the ocean when he realized living things were in it?

yes it is, (Mom?,) and nothing has changed. I am terrified and can't relax in the order the entire time I'm in it. I don't really know why I do it. I guess because I feel that I have to. It makes for good stories, even at the expense of me getting bitten, eaten, injured, killed, stung, etc... it's worth it (at least that's what I tell myself). And it's all because of the living things. If it were like a giant swimming pool, I'd be fine. For some reason, SCUBA is more relaxing for me. Perhaps, because 1. I know there isn't even a chance of survival like snorkling, and/or 2. if I don't chill the heck out, I'll deplete my air.
